How it all began

“The first time we really had a conversation, I remember feeling like we could talk about anything. She asked so many questions, and I quickly learned that she was that intentional with everyone she met.”

— Jonah

“Lately I’ve been talking to Jonah more. He has a very gentle heart and a lot to say— when I talk, I can tell he’s really listening. I also think it’s cute that he’s the camp baker and said he can’t stop eating the cookie dough.”

— Morgan’s journal entry from July 3, 2019

Morgan & Jonah

Jonah planned all year to serve at a Young Life camp in summer 2019. Three weeks before camp, Morgan was asked to help out and quickly agreed. At 20, she lived in Nashville with her college friends, while Jonah had just finished his freshman year in North Carolina. They didn't realize how their paths were crossing. Both working at camp—Morgan as a lifeguard and Jonah one of the  bakers— they kept being drawn to each other in any group setting. In the last nights of camp, they spent hours talking and getting to know each other. A month after camp, Jonah visited Nashville, starting three years of long-distance trips. In Spring 2022, Morgan finished grad school and moved to Raleigh, NC, where Jonah had graduated from NC State. The past couple of years in Raleigh have been great, filled with everyday joys they missed during long-distance—weekday dinners, Tuesday movie nights, slow mornings with coffee on the porch, and grocery store trips, all being the sweetest parts of their love.

And the rest is history
